LINDA WILSON LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT FOR EXCELLENCE IN
THEATRE AWARD
Directly
following the Actor Showcase, the UF School of Theatre
and Dance will present the 2008 Linda Wilson Lifetime
Achievement Award for Excellence in Theatre to Estelle
Parsons. Ms. Parson’s illustrious career includes
an Academy Award for
Best Supporting Actress
for her portrayal of
Blanche Barrow
in
Bonnie and Clyde
(1967) and a nomination for
Rachel, Rachel
(1968), as well as
Tony Award
nominations for her work in
The Seven Descents of
Myrtle (1968),
And Miss Reardon Drinks a
Little (1971),
Miss Margarida's Way
(1978) and
Morning’s at Seven
(2002). The Linda Wilson Award was created by UF
alumni George and Linda Wilson in 1998 to establish an
endowment so that preeminent theatre artists could be
recognized for their lifetime of work, to provide the
opportunity for honored artists to share their wisdom
and expertise for the benefit of UF students and to
provide scholarships for students in the School of
Theatre and Dance. Past recipients have been Zoe
Caldwell and Chita Rivera.
